Waterfront Marine began life as a specialist used boat shop situated at the entrance to the V & A Waterfront in 1995. Within 2 years the company began to sell new Inflatable and Rigid Inflatable Boats. The company also acquired the agency for Mariner Outboard engines. Initially the company was rated a Mariner Silver Dealer but within two years had been upgraded to a Mariner Gold dealer.

In 2002 the company contracted Anton Du Tiot to design a range of Inflatables under the brand Sovereign. Sovereign Inflatables has become a household name in Cape Town and expansion to rest of the country has begun.

Both Directors of the Company, Brian Gardener and James King have been in the Leisure Marine Industry for over 20 and 17 years respectively. More importantly both have an in depth knowledge of both Yachting and Powerboat markets. It is this experience that has lead to Beneteau appointing the company as its sole Southern African Distributor.

Brain's knowledge of the big boat market and its associated products helped the company be appointed as the Southern African distributor for Azimut. Azimut, the Italian manufacturer of Super Yachts is a huge accolade for the company.

Waterfront Marine will be revamping its showroom during 2005 to accommodate these new brands. The company will also be expanding its range of Marine accessories and plans to create a chandlary are in the pipeline.
